Coach & Team Manager
These key roles are required for a team to be able to play and are filled by the parents of the team.
The Coach
The Coach plays an integral role in building a players skills, love for basketball and enjoyment of team sports. This is a highly rewarding role that requires some basketball knowledge, or a willingness to learn! Coaching clinics are offered by the FDBA, and there are a multitude of resources available on YouTube.
Commitments of a Coach
- Present at 1 training session and 1 game per week
- Equal court time for all players to build skills
- Positive reinforcement and messaging to all players
Coaches Attributes
- A team-oriented focus, be approachable, positive and enthusiastic.
- A current Working With Children Check
- A signed & witnessed Member Protection Declaration (form will be made available to you)
The Team Manager (TM)
The TM is the vital link between the club, players, the players’ parents/guardians and coaches. How the TM develops and maintains these relationships can be critical to a successful season.
Commitments of a Team Manager
- Have a team-oriented focus, be approachable, considerate, positive and enthusiastic.
- Pass on relevant information in a timely manner to team members, coaches, parents and Overport Allstars Basketball Club administration, where applicable.
- Be able to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality, where required.
- Be available via email and phone, where required.
- Create and maintain a parent roster for scoring.
- Liaise and communicate all weekly game information and any club correspondence.
The Club will provide the TM with relevant contact details for all team members.
